The flower of a mother's love
For the first Mother's Day, in 1908, its founder Anna Jarvis sent five hundred carnations to her mother's church. They were her mother's favourite flower, and they have belonged to mothers ever since. Carnations also stay fresh longer than almost any other cut flower, often two weeks or more.
A flower that lasts, for a love that never runs out.
A flower loved for two thousand years
Its name comes from the Greek for golden flower, and people have grown and treasured it for more than two thousand years. Japan gives it a day of its own, on the ninth day of the ninth month. In some countries it is a flower of joy and good wishes, in others of remembrance. Everywhere it says the same thing: I am thinking of you.
A full, generous flower that carries your thoughts well.
